The Holmes Chapel Community Safety Action Group is committed to making Holmes Chapel a safer place in which to live, work or simply visit. In truth we already have the lowest crime rate in Cheshire but we continue to suffer the consequences of criminality and antisocial behaviour, which not only adversely influences our quality of life but can also undermine the well-being and prosperity of the Borough.
The County Council, Borough Council and the Police are working closely with the HCCSAG to identify and address those issues that are of most concern to the local community. All of these concerns are detailed and prioritised anf form part of our Community Stratergy. We will be working with a number of other service providers and organisations to carry out a series of actions to address and resolve these concerns on a sustainable basis.
From our work it is clear that some people believe that there is a certain inevitability to criminal and antisocial behaviour and that there is little that can be done to prevent it from happening. Whilst we can understand the frustration caused through antisocial behaviour and criminality, we believe that with community support we can make a difference through working together, identifying and targeting the small minority of people who either habitually commit crime or who do not abide by the principles guiding acceptable behaviour.
We will be working with Officers from the Police Community Action Team and the Community Wardens to help resolve problems that the community bring to us. Where necessary, funding will be used to support this work and to improve the safety and well-being of those people most vulnerable to crime and antisocial behaviour.
To ensure that the HCCSAG activities are accurately focused towards local concerns, all of our work is subject to a common evaluation process, the outcome of which will be published.
What we will not do is to avoid solving a problem by simply saying it is not our business. If an issue broadly fits into the community safety criteria we will consider all the contributing factors before determining in consultation with the community how a problem can be best addressed. If it does not meet the criteria we will do our best to assist in reaching an acceptable solution.
Your contributions are welcome at any time and can be forwarded to the Partnership through any of the organisations involved, their contact details are shown at the rear of the Strategy. An information form is also provided which can be forwarded directly to the Administrator for community safety either by post or by clicking here
