A level of anonymity is developing akin to a large town, as the number of residents expands so the village feel diminishes.

The village of Holmes Chapel is set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside and is highly regarded as one of the most pleasant places to live within the UK (United Kingdom). Holmes Chapel, also known as Church Hulme, was originally called Hulme, derived from Hulm or Holm, meaning rising ground. Close to junction 18 of the M6 motorway Holmes Chapel has fantastic road links to both the North and South of the country, commuting to major cities like Manchester and Stoke can be done within 40 minutes. In addition Holmes Chapel has its own train station offering rail links to Crewe, Manchester and Stockport amongst other UK towns and cities. At the heart of the village is the historic church of St. Luke, this is one of only three buildings that survived a great fire in July 1753, evidence of scorching can still been seen today on the lime trees within the church yard. Since then the village has rebuilt and expanded considerably. Over the course of time many new houses have appeared and spread the population over a wide area, large housing estates have appeared since the late 1960's and led to this population being dramatically increased. It now boasts its own precinct containing a variety of shops and businesses; these operate alongside an excellent selection on the main road through the village (London Rd). It is served by a good selection of public houses, bars, restaurants & clubs. Towards the west of the village is an industrial area containing a host of industries providing local employment?
